Hello Beloved Vanguard Patrons,

These are difficult times we are living in and as such we are having to make some difficult decisions. One of those difficult decisions is in regards to the Vanguard Lenten show. The run of Nunsense is postponed. We want to say clearly that we are NOT cancelling the show. We are simply postponing it and will be working hard to find the best time for the show to go on.

Most social events and performances are being postponed or closed in an effort to lessen the impact and minimize the spread of the virus. While this saddens us, we are being called at this moment to care for our most vulnerable neighbors. It gives us hope that so many places are taking this so seriously. We deeply believe that we should not only follow suit, but lead the way in what it means to be a responsible and compassionate organization and unfortunately, right now, this is what it means to do just that.

We understand the deep sadness and inconvenience this presents. We have made this decision out of love not fear as we strive to follow the commandments we hold close as a church to love God and love our neighbor. Taking these precautions seriously is the most tangible way that we can care for our neighbors and the most vulnerable in our midst at this time.

If you’ve already purchased tickets we will be processing refunds. However, your ticket can be transferred into a 100% tax deductible donation as this is a difficult time for the arts community and organizations. If you would like your ticket purchase to be transferred to a donation please contact the church office at 619-223-3193 or via email at We will begin our reimbursement process on March 20, 2020 so please contact us before then if you would like your ticket purchase to be transferred to a donation. If you would like a refund of your tickets no action needs to be taken.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out. We know this is a difficult time for all. We are here to support you.

All of our love and care,
Pastor Megan and Vanguard
